Im doing a project and is it true that ciggarettes help you loose weight?

My best friend lost 75 pounds while he died of lung cancer. True story.Im doing a project and is it true that ciggarettes help you loose weight?
I know that when I've tried to quit smoking, I gained weight.

I've read that it raises the body's metabolism and I suppose it distracts you from eating.

I wouldn't recommend smoking as a diet aid, though. It causes more harm than good.Im doing a project and is it true that ciggarettes help you loose weight?
They do keep you slim by pushing up your matabalism, and keeping your appitite at bay, but will also take years off your life, and mkae you age 3 times as fast as you should. Exercsing actually keeps you younger looking, slim, and adds on years
well, u lose ur appetite when u start smoking, and by not eating as much as u used to, yes u lose weight. but there is no direct relation between smoking and weight loss.
yes, it is true . the cigarettes make you not hungry and speed up your metabolism
hahaha.... I'm sorry i find it hilarious that the idea smoking cigarettes helps you loose weight is even an accepted idea out there in the world. Yes, nicotine does act as an appetite suppressant to some extent. However, this often only has effects lasting minutes and is keeping your body from obtaining the necessary nutrition it needs. Also, in the long run smoking will hinder your metabolism. Honestly, the only way to loose weight and keep it off is a correct diet and exercise. I just want to inform you on how bad smoking is for you. Smoking cigarettes is an addictive habit and has deadly consequences. Lung cancer, throat cancer.... just had an uncle die at 42 from throat cancer.... it spreads and an unbelievable rate and in like laryngeal cancer is pretty much impossible to remove and spreads like wildfire, smoking cigarettes is linked to the cause of other cancers:

Adult Acute Leukemia

Adult Chronic Leukemia

Cervical Cancer

Esophagus Cancer

Laryngeal Cancer

Lung Cancer

Kidney Cancer

Oropharyngeal Cancer

Pancreas Cancer

Stomach Cancer

Urinary Bladder

emphysema, aging faster than normal...cigarette smoking damages the collagen in your skin ... that's why ladies and men who have smoked for a while have more saggy and wrinkly skin. Cardiovascular problems, heart diesease, gosh i just could go on for pages and pages on how damaging smoking is for your body. I am speaking from personal experiences with family members, patients, and friends.
no - but a lot of people that start smoking - will replace snacks with ciggaretts - and it curbs one craving with another - also when they quit smoking they tend to feed nicotine cravings with food so it makes them gain the weight -

it doesnt actually make you loose or gain - basically you could curb your cravings with any thing and it would do the same thing - instead of smoking when hungry just eat a carrot stick - or - when quiting - chew on a peice of gun or lemon drop - something to buisy your hands and mouth -
yes.but cancer is a really bad trade off.
I learned in nursing school that if you are a smoker and you stop; your metabolism slows down. It's due to the loss of nicotine is the blood steam. Therefore, it makes the absorbsion of vitimins and nutriants more difficult.
The only reason they help you lose weight is because when you have a craving or are hungry, you smoke instead of eat. Choose: being thin or being smelly, hacking up a lung, and dying prematurely.
Tobacco numbs your sense of taste causing one to ;lose interest in food. A very dangerous way to diet!
Yes but not for everyone, reason being it suppresses your appetite, makes your body think your not hungry so you tend to eat less because your always eating but its not a dramatic difference, don't take this up as it will have dozens more negative effects than it does any positives. It will not happen overnight either and is definitely not a form of weight loss!
Yes, you can get very dead.
