that attempts to frighten youIs the blairwitch project movie true?
It was a crudely made movie filmed in Maryland. The actors and actresses were some of the first reality stars. They lived outdoors, ate sparingly, and experienced the range of exhaustion, frightening experiences, anger, etc., on film, and this was linked to a cemetery in Maryland.

There are several good write=ups of the filming by the actors and actresses. These interviews were done once the film was completed.
No, the movies is totally fake and contrary to popular belief, it is NOT based on anything. It's 100 percent fabricated. In fact you can view it yourself and you can go to the source listed below (from imdb)

No.

It was a project for a film class that somehow got financed by a studio. They built up hype around the movie by starting the rumor that the blair witch was real. Once they had this ';legend'; started, they released the film trailers.

Obviously this method worked, because many people believed the witch to be real.

There never was nor has there ever been a blair witch. It was invented by some imaginative college students.

I read about this in my film history textbook as a genius marketing scam to hype up a pretty bad low budget student film.
