The global warming argument is based on the assertion that the earth's temperature has risen 0.6 degrees in 100 years. I think global warming is a myth and this is why.
2. 6/10ths of a degree is well below the difference in measurement accuracy from the instruments we had 100 years ago to the ones we have today. Not a valid scientific measurement. The inaccuracy of instruments exceeds the amount of the ';observed'; difference. Do you really think that in the 1860's they could measure temperatures to the tenth of a degree? or that they cared enough to take and record enough measurements, all over the world, that would statistically be accurate enough to determine the true ';average'; temperature ?)
3. Even ';IF'; the 6/10 of a degree in 100 years IS accurate, the earth is generally accepted to be about 4.5 Billion years old (that's 4,500,000,000 years) anything that happens in 100 years is WAY less than the blink of an eye, in the scope of the planet.
100 years is too short of a period to measure. The earth goes through heating and cooling cycles that last thousands, even millions, of years. 100 years is too short of a time to observe a viable ';trend';.
4. Even ';IF'; the measurement inaccuracies were not a factor, and even ';IF'; 100 years were enough time to observe a trend, NO ONE CAN PROVE that the 6/10 of a degree increase would NOT HAVE HAPPENED ANYWAY, regardless of the activities of humans.
The logic is like saying that the sun comes up every morning because I make Coffee. Because every time I turn on my coffeemaker, the sun comes up within an hour or so.
There are volcanic eruptions (that happen naturally) which in a day or two emit more pollutants into the atmosphere than 1000 years of all the cars in the world. This has been happening for billions of years.
The estimate mass of the earth is 5.9 X 10 to the 24th Kilograms. That means 5,900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Kg.
Now write that number down next to the estimated amount of carbon dioxide supposedly emitted by humans and automobiles etc. (the EPA estimate for all of North America is 1488 million metric tonnes in 2005 - see link below). 1488 million metric t.. 1,488,000,000 metric tonnes, or 1,488,000,000,000 Kg.
1.488,000,000,000 Kg of CO2, compared to the 5,900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg of Earth's mass equals:
1 KG of CO2 per 3,965,000,000,000 kg of the earth. It's such a small proportion, it can't be expressed very well as a percentage.
It can be expressed as parts per million, it is less than one one-millionth OF a part per million.
Totally insignificant. Don't think about it in human terms (1.4 trillion Kg is a lot, 100 years is a long time).
Think in terms of the earth. 100 years is a miniscule amount of time. The amount of CO2 produced is utterly and totally insignificant.
Im doing my science fair project on global warming i think its not true would should i add to my hypothesis ?
Just say it could be true but the cause could be from the Sun. With our current lack of sunspots we could get some global cooling soon.
As you said the model they have is flawed. Methane is far greater a green house gas then co2.
You have to be wise and pretend to go along with the common view but say there could be alternatives.
If you are not wise they could give you low marks. Unfortunately this is the way the system works. Those who upset the band wagon get bad marks.

Tell me your worst of funniest true, bad date story. I'm collecting stories for a project, thanks.?

i was 13-14 maybe and i went out with my then girlfriend. we went to a pizzeria and she never told me that she was allergic to cheese, but she still ordered a cheese pizza for some reason (didn't want to disappoint me?). anyway, midway through, she started getting an allergic reaction and i started freaking out. the ambulance ended up coming after the guy behind the counter called.
not a good memory...

My best friend and I were room mates and she was dating who we now refer to as ';stress boy.'; She left him at the bar with a flat on his car. She was trying to ditch him. BUT, he drove anyway. When he showed at the apartment he had FOUR flat tires. We didn't let him in and the next day we found he had stole the doorknob!?!?!?!? off the door.
We have no idea why but perhaps now you understand why he is nicknamed ';stressboy.';

OMG! It was a blind date my cousin set up. He was a huge dork! Very short, and practically walked on his tip toes just to put an arm around me... He was quite a bit older than me, and was in the service (which wasnt a prob.) but he was either extremely shy, or just didnt talk! It was like a silence treatment! We went to Disneyland, and he didnt want to do any of the rides.. duh.. what in the world do you go to Disneyland for... does that give you an idea?? I was glad when it was over... Then I had to play dodge ball with him, to avoid him taking me out again. He also smoked cigars, and that is one smell I have a very hard time tollerating.
anyway, he kept writing me letters for a very long time.. which I did enjoy those. Just not someone I felt compatible with.
My friend told me this story, it happened to her cousin. I think her name is Emily, so I'm just gonna call her that.
Emily and her best friend worked at this party center (it's this place that has rooms you can rent to throw a party) and a twin convention so there were about forty twins. Emily's friend met a guy she really liked. He was handsome and funny, but kind of dumb, but she didn't care. Emily met the same person, and liked him too.
Later Emily told her friend that she had met a really cute guy, and she was gonna ask him out. Her friend told her the same news. Then the guy comes up to the both of them, and they both say to each other ';thats him';. They find out they met the same guy. But it turns out that he has a twin. He comments, ';he's really smart';. Emily says that she'll go out with the guys twin.
So It's date night, and Emily and the guy's twin meet face to face. It turns out that they're feternal twins (they don't look alike). She didn't mind that much about that, what she did mind about was that while eating dinner he starts telling them all disgusting facts about the body. (ex.'s 'by the age 15 more hair has gone through a persons shower drain then there is on their head' 'the intestines would be able to wrap around the world x2' and various desieses and what they do [make teeth fall out, throw up parts of your intestines, along with food]...etc) She was so grossed out that she took her friend to the side and said that she was leaving. Emily's date came up behind them and knew that she didn't like him. They resolved to not go out anymore, but her date ended up asking her to help him get her friend!
She poured olive oil on his head.

haha *ahem* well the guy will remain nameless and it was hilarious!...well not really but whatev. he had picked me up at my house at 7 we were going to this expensive resteraunt and anyways the drive was kinda awkward all the songs on the radio were about people dying or sex! so its like wtf? and then we finaly got to the resteraunt and he got out and was walking behind him as he held the door for me. as we walked by people were pointing and laffing at him! He ignored it and pulled a chair out for me and when he was walking back to his chair i noticed he had toilet paper in his pants!!!! i told him to go to the mens room and turn around and look in the mirror. he said why? i said u'll see.
he saw it came bacck blah was so embarressed blah blah blahh anways...
when it was time to leave he opened the car door for me and he was about half-way around the car to his side and he fell flat on his facce!

Another is the first time me and this girl were gonna .... in high school at the time, an older friend said I could use his apartment..just getting started and hear a ';CLICK';..behind his recliner was a tape recorder. She was so livid she thought I was in on it and demanded to be taken home.
well this really wasn't a date but i guess it kinda counts. so this guy, Robbie, and i were really good friends and he loved my best friend and so they broke up and he said he still loved her and then he tells me and my friend kahla that he loves us and i'm like well ove you too. and then i relize that i don't and so i avoided him for like 2 months and so now he texts me constantly and he won't leave me alone. i'm pretty sure he's got the pic that i don't like him at all. and so i started my freashman year and i wanted it to be a new freash year with out him. so it hasn't really worked out very well and so nothing i do will make him leave me alone. so anyway good luck with ur project.

DOUBLE UR VERT????????? LOL!!!! that means if someone has a 30 inch vert and they do the program, they will have a 60 inch vert!!! NO WAY!! jus to tell u, i have seen the vertical project program and i have to admit it is very good. it is probably the most detailed program out there. but u will need a lot of dedication and time to finish the program. and a lot of exercises u need to go to the gym because the need for machines. I think doubling the vert is a bit exagerating, but i believe if u complete the program u might add 6 or 7 inches.The vertical project says that they can instantly double your vert. is it true if so how.?

Actually, that whole thing pissed me off 'cause when the marketing / advertising first started they made it believable and then the chick from the movie was on a talk show and said that it was all a publicity stunt. The website, the fliers, everything. I didn't go see it in the theater because I was so pissed. Sounds lame now, it was just a thing for me then. My boyfriend at the time (now hubby) made me watch it... Man did it freak me out. But the camera angles made me want to throw up. (I have motion sickness). No one warned me about that before seeing it. Still scared me though. The part 2 on the other hand, now that was just plain dumb.
Well, there are folks who believe in witches and ghosts and whatnots. It isn't strange actually for people to believe in things they can't prove exists with their five senses. Look at the belief in God for example. Another example is the belief in love.
Really, can you prove that love exists? It is only an emotion after all, there are no scientific methods of proving any emotion really exists using scientific methods, which in all reality are methods incorperating only the five senses. So, if we can't use our five senses to prove the existance of love, yet every human being on the planet believes love exists, then what is so difficult to understand those who don't rely on their five senses in understanding other super natural phenomena? Yep, anything not able to be proven by the five senses is grouped into the super natural realm. So, then, love would have to be in that group as well. If love is in the super natural realm, then it goes to figure that many other things not proven by the five senses may also be as real as love is.
Some day we may have a way of ';seeing'; many things we can not see today. Look at all the progress in electronics. Only less then a hundred years ago, there would have been those who would have never believed any of these things we take for granted today could possibly ever exist! Once man thought the world was flat. It was a widely held belief, and when Columbus proved began talking of it not being flat many believed he was mad, crazy that is.
So, today many things exist that never did before. Well, they really did exist, the people just thought they did not exist. I often wonder what we will learn in my life time that we all think is impossible. Witches? Ghosts? A new solar system where life exists? The ability to ';beem us up Scotty';! Who really knows?
Hope this helps you stop thinking of your friends as total fools for thinking the Blair Witch Project was perhaps real or at least representitive of something which could be real.
Actually, no: but it did make for a great story. The film's creators did it right: letting the audience imagine the fate's of the victimized characters.
Blair Witch Project was made with, I belive, a scant $41,000 strap string budget....and it grossed a healthy 8x that in box office sales!!!

Yes many thought it was true. As well as the Chain Saw Massacre, and the recent Wolf Creek.
If you watch the Wolf Creek story ... It's good until they tell you its true, and the facts supposedly came from a man locked in a hole while some girl he never saw got at mutilated. Now tell me how could he tell what happened when he was locked away..
As for chain saw I investigated...and It Is Not True!
Believe it or not, I thought it was true, and that was the main reason I went to see it. I really was disappointed when I found out it was fiction.
Well, a lot of people did, because of their whole marketing campaign, which featured clips of local news anchors talking about the ';recovered film footage';, and ';missing students';, etc.
Actually, part of the blair withc is true....3 students did go mysteriously missing from Berkittsville (spelling?), MD in the early '90s.
And Berkittsville is notorus for being a very small creepy town with a really huge cemetary. I grew up near there, and it was a big deal to go camping in the woods because they were supposed to be haunted(this was all pre-movie!)

Actually, that whole thing pissed me off 'cause when the marketing / advertising first started they made it believable and then the chick from the movie was on a talk show and said that it was all a publicity stunt. The website, the fliers, everything. I didn't go see it in the theater because I was so pissed. Sounds lame now, it was just a thing for me then. My boyfriend at the time (now hubby) made me watch it... Man did it freak me out. But the camera angles made me want to throw up. (I have motion sickness). No one warned me about that before seeing it. Still scared me though. The part 2 on the other hand, now that was just plain dumb.
Well, there are folks who believe in witches and ghosts and whatnots. It isn't strange actually for people to believe in things they can't prove exists with their five senses. Look at the belief in God for example. Another example is the belief in love.
Really, can you prove that love exists? It is only an emotion after all, there are no scientific methods of proving any emotion really exists using scientific methods, which in all reality are methods incorperating only the five senses. So, if we can't use our five senses to prove the existance of love, yet every human being on the planet believes love exists, then what is so difficult to understand those who don't rely on their five senses in understanding other super natural phenomena? Yep, anything not able to be proven by the five senses is grouped into the super natural realm. So, then, love would have to be in that group as well. If love is in the super natural realm, then it goes to figure that many other things not proven by the five senses may also be as real as love is.
Some day we may have a way of ';seeing'; many things we can not see today. Look at all the progress in electronics. Only less then a hundred years ago, there would have been those who would have never believed any of these things we take for granted today could possibly ever exist! Once man thought the world was flat. It was a widely held belief, and when Columbus proved began talking of it not being flat many believed he was mad, crazy that is.
So, today many things exist that never did before. Well, they really did exist, the people just thought they did not exist. I often wonder what we will learn in my life time that we all think is impossible. Witches? Ghosts? A new solar system where life exists? The ability to ';beem us up Scotty';! Who really knows?

It was a bad almost-date story. When I was in high school there was this guy who would always joke around with me and act flirty - it was very clear that he was interested in me. He just wasn't my type. One Saturday he called me at home (not sure how he got my #) and asked me to go on a picnic with him and his family - I had to find an excuse really fast, so I told him I was sick and couldn't go. About an hour later, the doorbell rang, my mom answered, it was for me and there he was... He came from a very large family and they were all in my driveway while he was standing at the door with a Hens and chicks plant - looking at the plant, he said how sorry he was that I was sick and that he brought me a ';chicken plant';. Then he looked up and turned pale. He proceeded to explain that he hadn't intended to ask me out but thought he was talking to my best friend who ironically had the same first name. It was just strange - after he left, my parents came out of hiding laughing so hard they were in tears.

I have one. I met a guy on the chat line a couple of years ago. He wouldn't send me any pictures because he said he didn't have a camera phone. I talked to him for about 2 weeks and then we agreed to meet. He picked me up from a friends house and we went out to Chilli's to eat. Ok I am a very nice looking young lady--I only wanted to see what the chat line was all about. This guy was about 350lbs and on a breathing machine. Ok I said ';I'm going to deal with it because I am hungry and I want a steak.'; We got to the restaurant and he brought the oxygen machine in with him. I was so embarassed. He ordered so much food that there was not enough room for my meal. He had three different types of ribs and all kinds of entrees. People were looking at us laughing and probably talking about us as well. Anyway--the waitress made a lil space open for my meal.
Description--He told me he was 30 when he looked every bit of 45.
He had a big bald spot in his hair and he was just disgusting all the way around. I was so ready to go. Ok-we left and I noticed that he wasnt heading for the freeway---I asked';where are we going'; and he said that he had to stop at home and feed the dog. He refused to take me back to my friends house so I could get my car until the morning. He fell asleep and I plotted to steal his van and drive myself back. Well I met my boyfirend at this program that teaches and instructs people on Law Enforcement..well I went and joined the program because that is the feild I want to pursue, yet my boyfriend now( he wasa friend before) was forced to go to the program..we didnt know eachother and became friends this is when we were 13 years old..we had a big crush on eachother..yet as the years passed we were to shy to act on our feelings. Five years pass and we acted on our freindship and love for eachother..things happen for a reasona nd we have been together for 3 years now. God is amazing and I love my boyfriend and he feels the same...if he was not forced to go to that meeting I would not be with him now. We talk about our shyness and mistakes in the pass and we now understand why things happen for a reason..we went through other realtionships before being together..and those just didnt work out now we are together and we just cannot walk out on eachother for some reason..LOVE and trust..but God has helped us out through our tribulations and we cannot wait to see what else he has for us! My boyfriend and I were hanging out a lot with a neighbor when we moved in to the new building. He's more friends with my boyfriend but I got along with him pretty well too. I'd like to get acquainted with better because he's so interesting but he stopped calling like a month ago. He's into graphic arts so he'll have a couple of projects a year with a few weeks in between each project to relax, but since he started on this new project he doesn't call at all.

Hate to say it but no - neither ';The Blair Witch Project'; or it's sequel are based on real life - they were based on a story, with some things that are true, and many that are not. It's the same thing as with other movies like The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Halloween movies, and various others - they all have some kernel of truth that spawned the nightmare of a movie that they became, but they are not based on real life - real life has enough problems without dealing with supernatural psycho killers.
