ZCam - it's a depth camera. That means they can build a point cloud, generate a mesh from it, and recognize 3d shapes. This makes it way easier to recognize people than trying to trace shapes from a 2d camera. Project Natal is being worked by Microsoft's XBOX division and it is an add-on to the XBOX 360 that provides a controller-free gaming experience. Basically, Microsoft is trying to one-up the Nintendo Wii.
